Microsoft PowerPoint - Office 2007 Power Point Custom Animation

Expert: John Wilson - 4/6/2009

Question
I want to add an effect to my slide by using  Custom Animation. Once I click onto Custom Animation, it is all gray and I can not add the effect.  Is there something additional I must purchase?

The program was reinstalled by Dell.  Should I contact them and let them know they did not install the program correctly?

Answer
Hi Vanessa

Custom animation is applied to a shape NOT to a slide.

Before you can add a custom animation you must first select an item (text, shape, picture)until you do this everything is greyed out.

You will then find that the Add Effect button is live. Click it and choose the animation to add.

Hope that helps

John
