Microsoft PowerPoint - Slide transition

Expert: Geetesh Bajaj - 5/28/2009

Question
I just completed a PowerPoint presentation for my daughter and her family in memory of her son who committed suicide this month.  I am currently using PowerPoint 2003. I inserted a WAVE music file and everything is working fine except the timing of the pictures.  When the slide transitions, an empty slide shows for a few seconds before the pictures comes up.  The pictures are only on the screen for about 2 seconds before it transitions to the next slide.  The empty slide is actually on the screen longer than the pictures.  This has never happened before.  I have the timing set for 6 seconds between slides. I want the picture to show for the entire 6 seconds before it goes on to the next slide.  I would like to get this completed as soon as possible. Many thanks for you help.

Answer
Bette, do follow these guidelines:

1. Try to use optimized pictures -- if you are using high res images, that can make PowerPoint sluggish -- you can learn about compressing in PowerPoint at: http://www.indezine.com/articles/powerpointcompression01.html

2. Choose the Rehearse Timings option, and save those timings when done. Try to do this with a copy of the original presentation.

3. Add a few seconds extra to each slide to transition.

Have a great day.
