Question We are trying to make an information folder at uni and we have divided our document into sections and applied a pattern/template for the whole thing. We want to make each section/chapter a different color, but when you change it it does it to the whole document. Is it possible to have different colored sections? The project has to be in in 2 weeks! Thanks, Jo.x
Answer Hi Joanne,
We wouldn't want you to miss your project deadline so let me try to answer so question as quickly and accurate as I can. If you could send me the file, I can get a better visual picture of what it is you are doing.
You can email the file to me at rejavanation@cox.net.
If you do not wish to email the file. I can offer a few suggestions off the top of my head.
Are you making your modifications on the Master Page View? Click View>> and if the Master Page is checked, you are working on the Master Page. Remove the check mark by selecting it. The Master Page View affects the document as a whole. Any changes you make on the Master Page View will affect the entire document.
If you have a special background or a specific color you want the entire document to have, do that on the Master Page, otherwise use the normal page view. Master Pages are good for controlling guidelines, inserting page numbers etc...
If you elect to use a master page background, then you will only be able to override the color by either putting your chapters in boxes or using one text box linked per chapter. If you put your chapters in boxes, then you can fill the box with color and send it to the background. If the brochure is mostly text, just fill the text boxes in each section with a different color.
I hope that helps. But if my explanation isn't sufficient, please send me the file so I can see exactly what you're trying to do.
