According to Microsoft this publisher 2002 and 2003 has option to change web address name I just don't know where. Answer
Hi Sarkis,

Thanks for giving me a second opportunity to answer your question. I understand the problem you are having. I do not understanding why your version of publisher is not allowing you to change the file name in the webpage option. Did this just start happening, or has it always been this way.

In any event, there is a way around it.

It would be a lengthy explanation, so I decided to do some screen shots in an attempt to show you. You will have to send me your email address so that I can send you the images. This forum will only allow me to upload one image per answer. You may email me at rejavanation@cox.net and I will be happy to image you the images that go with these instructions.

(1) You want to open the index_files where you web page is stored. You do not want your webpage stored in different folders. That will not work will when you publish it to your host. All your pages should be stored in the file entitled "index_files"

(2) Open that file

(3) You should see a format similar to image [index1]

(4) You are going to change whichever files you would like to change. In the image Publisher automatically selected the numbers for the page names in image [index2] just as you mentioned in the problem you are having.

(5) Right click on each image and just use the "rename" function and rename the file to whatever name you want as I did in image [index3]

(6)  Open the filelist file by double clicking it image [index4]. It should open in your web browser.

(7)  Look at it. You should see the page files as the numbers publisher assigned instead of the new names that you used to rename the file image [index5] Close that view in your web browser and go back to the folder index_files

(8) Right click on the file and you want to open the file with "notepad." Notepad is a simple html editor image [index6] change the names of your pages as it corresponds to what you renamed the files. Save the file as filelist.xml. You must use the .xml extension otherwise it will save the file as a .txt file and your website will no longer work.

(9) Go back and open the filelist in explorer and you should now see your new file names. image [index7]

(10) Open the text file again, and you will also see that the "title" of your files are different. That did not change when you changed the file names. Your titles should correspond with the name you named your link in your navigation bar on the .htm document itself. Close this file (don't save it)

This is how you manually change your file names.

I hope this helps.

Very Respectfully,

Dawn
