Microsoft Software - Microsoft Photo editor

Expert: Kathy Frye - 12/22/2004

Question
Photo editor window size is always Maximum.
I am unable to rezize it. Maximum and Minimized are the only two options.

I tried increasing my screen resolution so that I could grab and resize the window. No matter what I set the screen resolution to, the window is at Maximum. RMB on task bar has the Restore option greyed out unless I select Minimize first. However, Restore then does nothing.

Thanks,
Jim Chakuroff

Answer
Good morning,

The following registry edit should work for you.  Open your Registry Editor (from the Start/Run command line, type either REGEDIT or REGEDT32, depending on your operating system).  Navigate to the following key/value:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Photo Editor/3.0/Microsoft Photo Editor

In the right window pane, you should see a value entitled "Initial Position"...right-click on it and delete it. Close the Registry window and re-open Photo Editor.  Again, depending upon the operating system you're using, you may need to re-boot for the change to take effect.

I'd never noticed the "always maximized" setting in this app and just tried the fix on my machine...works like a charm.  Let me know if you need additional help.

Happy Holidays,
Kathy
