Microsoft Word - Copying Active Chart (Graph from exce) and paste in Word 2003

Expert: Mahesh - 10/1/2009

Question
Hello Mahesh

How could I copy ActiveChart/Graph or Selected Chart/Graph from Excel Sheet and paste in Word 2003 at given Bookmark in word.

At present I am using this code in excel "Word.Application.Selection.PasteSpecial (wdChartPicture)". It is working fine. But not aligning Chart/Graph in Word at given Bookmark. It goes and paste in the same page where Bookmark is but does not puts where Bookmark begins,. In other words it randomly puts anywhere in the page where Bookmark is available.

I will appreciate if you have any suggestions for my problem

Thanking you in advance

Sunil

Answer
Hi,

When you paste it, instead of pasting it directly use the paste special method.

Copy the chart, go to the word document. Keep your cursor where you want to insert the image.  Then go to Edit - Paste special.  Select option "Picture (enhanced metafile)" and paste the chart.

Now the chart will float over text.  Right click the image, select "format picture". On the layout tab, select "In Line with Text" option.  This will make the chart behave like text and you can then place it anywhere you want in the document.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Mahesh K
