Microsoft Word - 10pt spacing on Mac Word 2008

Expert: Aidan Heritage - 11/5/2009

Question
Dear Aidan

I am currently having a problem with sentence spacing using Mac Word 2008.

Everytime I open up a new document, Microsoft Word sets up 10pt sentence spacing between each line, and I have to manually fix the problem.

Is there a way of permanently changing this setting so that I do not have to manually change this every time?

Also the same problem occurs with every time I insert a foot note, and again would ask if you would know how to permanently correct this problem?

Regards
Will

Answer
I'm not familiar with the Mac platform but it is basically a case of changing the defaults, which from another questioners answer seems to be

In the styles section of the formatting palette, click on the arrow on the right of "Normal," and then choose modify style. On the lower left corner, choose paragraph, and in spacing, set "after" to be 0. close the paragraph dialog box, and click on add to template, now "ok" it. This should do the trick.
(the above was specifically for double spacing, but the principle should hold good for all changes)
