Microsoft Office and Microsoft Word in particular is one of the most popular programs that our firm, Computer Help provides instruction, one on one tutoring and consultation. I personally use MS Word for almost every task: Envelopes, Mailing Labels, Database, WordArt, Interactive Forms, Faxes, Letters, Lists, Newsletters, Tables, Email Editor and much more. The exception, Graphics and Web Pages. For graphics I use
Ulead's PhotoImpact and Microsoft's FrontPage for web site design.

Expert: Dale F. Wiley - 11/4/2009
Question I have taken out of AutoCorrect the feature that changes (c) to a copyright symbol as well as (r) to a registered symbol. However, when I use Format/AutoFormat, it acts as if I never took those items out of AutoCorrect and changes the (c) and (r) to copyright symbol and registered symbol. I'm thinking AutoFormat is getting its AutoCorrect options from somewhere other than my .acl file that I have removed that feature from. Can you tell me? I'm using Word 2003 SP3.
Answer
Hi Anita,
Must report that I don’t have Word 2003 and have yet to be convinced that I need it but I will do my best to answer your question anyway. My answer will reflect Microsoft Word 2002 which is the version I am using.
Just for the record:
Delete or Disable an AutoCorrect entry
On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options.
In the list under the Replace box, click the entry you want to remove.
Click Delete.
Another option is to add the entry to the Exceptions List
(which for some reason I can’t do with my Word installation)
From the Menu Bar choose Tools; Autocorrect Options then the AutoCorrect Tab
Click the Exceptions Button
Choose the Other Corrections Tab
Feel free to ask one or all of the other volunteers about this issue.
One of them just may have run into a similar situation and they all are a lot smarter than I am.

Good Luck.
Dale :-)
