Microsoft Word - Combining word files

Expert: Nancy C. Janyszeski - 11/10/2009

Question
Nancy I wonder if you can help? I have completed my PhD thesis which is in separate chapters. I want to combine these into one file so I can get page numbers throughout the document. When I try to do this every thing comes out in BOLD lettering-which when I take off I lose all my headings etc. I am using Word 2007 but am saving everything in 2003 as my supervisor does nothave/does not get on with 2007 (I know how he feels! :))

Answer
Nigel -

I would suggest you consider creating a master document and your chapter will be the secondary documents.  These are saved as separate files but react as one document.

The following is the online training from Microsoft for creating a Master documents and adding page numbers.
