Formerly the #1 rated Microsoft Word Expert at Askme.com since volunteering there in December 2000. In that time, responding to hundreds of questions most of which were specific to Microsoft Word.

Microsoft Office and Microsoft Word in particular is one of the most popular programs that our firm, Computer Help provides instruction, one on one tutoring and consultation. I personally use MS Word for almost every task: Envelopes, Mailing Labels, Database, WordArt, Interactive Forms, Faxes, Letters, Lists, Newsletters, Tables, Email Editor and much more. The exception, Graphics and Web Pages. For graphics I use Ulead's PhotoImpact and Microsoft's FrontPage for web site design.

Microsoft Word - Globally removing Section breaks in Word 2007

Expert: Dale F. Wiley - 11/6/2009

Question
From my computer departments Reporting Services I get a document in pdf which I then convert to Word using Abel2 but I then want to globally remove the section breaks that are at the end of each page. I have tried the Special search and replace of ^% but that doesn't work. Any ideas. When formatting stuff from external sources I frequently use replace for ^t and ^p etc. but this has got me!
Hope to hear from you.

Answer
Hi Jacqui,

Must report that I don’t have Word 2007 and have yet to be convinced that I need it but I will do my best to answer your question anyway. My answer will reflect Microsoft Word 2002 which is the version I am using.

Well this has got me also!

I don’t know anything about Abel2 but maybe in the conversion process you could remove those section breaks.

Another point; to remove a Section Break this is what you should be using: ^b

Try this:

(I don’t know where this stuff is located in Microsoft Word 2007)

From the Menu Bar Choose Edit, Find and Replace or Replace

Click on the Special Button

Select Section Break

Fill in the Replace with box and when you are finished click Replace or Replace All

Good luck.

Dale :-)
