Microsoft Word - Microsoft Word Bullets and Tabbing

Expert: Pamela Mullenix-Croft - 11/10/2009

Question
Just recently the tabbing while using bullets has stopped working in my Microsoft Word. I have the most recent version on a Mac OS X. It used to be that when I was using bullets, I would press the tab and the bullet would tab in a change from a filled in circle to an open circle. Instead, the tabbing now just tabs in as though it is normal and there is no bullet. Now that this has stopped working, I'm not sure how to go about fixing it. I don't remember ever messing with anything. I have tried looking at other solutions on this site but they were for an earlier version of Microsoft Word.

Answer
Hello Sarah,

To configure the AutoCorrect settings, you follow these steps:

•   Click Word on the menubar (on the far upper left)
•   Choose Preferences
•   Select AutoCorrect
•   Click the AutoFormat as You Type tab at the top of the window
•   Checkmark the option for Automatic bulleted lists
•   Click OK

Best regards,
Pamela
