Microsoft Word - Word 2007

Expert: Nancy C. Janyszeski - 11/9/2009

Question
I am trying to place a header in Word 2007 in an 8-page newsletter I am doing for a club I belong to.  I have 1 and 2-column formats throughout the document.  I cannot get the header to number the pages sequentially. Can you help?  I would be so grateful.  Thanks.

Answer
Terry, if you have not inserted section breaks you should be able to simply to to the Insert TAB > Page numbers

If you have inserted section breaks (look at the status bar at the bottom does it show simply Section 1 or more than 1 section on the last page)you may have to double click the footer where the page numbers are and look at the Design TAB that appears.  Review previous section, did you select different first page.

You may want to review Word help for page numbers and section breaks

If you have tried several times you may want to delete all footers and start over.
