Microsoft Word - A4 and A3 pages in the same document

Expert: Pamela Mullenix-Croft - 7/9/2009

Question
Hi I am trying to compile a report with both A4 and A3 pages in the one report. I want to send it as an electronic file however it seems because I only have an A4 printer I can't create a document with both page formats. What do I need to do ~ Thanks Brian

Answer
Hello Brian,

I don’t know if you have Word 2003, 2007, etc.  If you have Word XP 2002, or 2003, you should consider converting the document to a Word Viewer file, or saving the file as a TIFF document. I have the link here which explains the idea:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/HA011683331033.aspx?pid=CH060829791033

If you have Word 2007, you can download the free PDF convertor:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=4D951911-3E7E-4AE6-B059...

And as another solution, you can avoid your printer driver, and choose Print to file, in the Print window. You simply checkmark Print to file, name the file and choose the location, and it uses a more generic driver. That will avoid the driver problem.  I would make a copy of my original document first to make sure all is safe on the original.

I hope one of these solutions get your document on its way. You might want to write back to another on the AllExperts board if this does not solve the situation, and perhaps add the version of Word you are using.

All the best to you,
Pamela
