Microsoft Word - Borders

Expert: Pamela Mullenix-Croft - 7/6/2009

Question
I used Word to create my resume and when i print it the page border isn't showing at the bottom.  the error i'm getting is the page borders of section 1 are set outside the printable area of the page.  Do you want to continue?  But, i can't find a way to fix it.

Answer
Hello Jameka,

There is a margin setting for page borders under the Format menu.  If you go to the Format menu and choose Borders and Shading, you will see the Page Border tab. In that window you will find the Options button for the margins of the border. You can adjust the distance from there, rather than the document margins.

Another option is to tell Word to measure the margin from the distance of the text in relation to the margin. That setting is in the same window. You would choose Measure from, and then select Text. That will make a large difference with that setting.

You can also change the Footer setting under Page Setup. It is set to .05 by default, and you can bring that down and that will also help.

One of these options should fix the problem.

The best to you,
Pamela
