Microsoft Word/Copied text from the web
Expert: Aidan Heritage - 7/1/2009
QuestionQuite often when I copy information from a web site,I often have small circles embedded. It makes editing very dificult because some areas are not accessible.
The circles look like markers in tables, but using the erase table function from table tools often doesn't work either.
How can I understand what is going on so that I can deal with the issue?
Thank you in advance for your time, effort, and patience.
AnswerThe problem with web pages is that although they appear as text, they are written in a markup language (xml, html etc) which contains all manner of codes that will be copied across. Options are to try paste special, values in excel, or possibly use a web query if the data is in a format that can be queried. Otherwise it may be possible to use a macro to tidy up the data if the item is a standard one. My email if it helps is aidan.heritage@virgin.net
