Experience I have worked professionally on MS Word since 1992 when v2.0 was launched. For one employer, I created several macros to address the issues of translating a document from a Sun-based desktop publisher to Word and then from Word to ASCII (a VERY specific application). I have created mail merge letters and labels, fliers and brochures, concert programs, investment company documents, large running tables, along with the more ordinary word processing documents.

Question Jean: I have a problem that I hope you can help. I have a 12 page document split into 2 equal sections of 6 pages. In the footer I have set the numbering to x of y format. I know how to set x to be the first page of the section, however I want to reset y as well i.e. I want the last page of the 12 page document to read Page 6 of 6 rather than 6 of 12 as it currently reads.

Answer Hi Chris,
If you are using the field code to get the number of pages, instead of using {NUMPAGES}, you should use {SECTIONPAGES}. If you hit Alt+F9, you can see and edit the code, otherwise you can insert the correct field code using Insert->Quick Parts->Field. I hope this helps!
