I've inserted about 92 pictures into a Word document with a caption below each picture. After I tell the computer to insert a table of figures, it does that and copies some pictures into it, though they don't belong there. Since I thought some special invisible characters might have caused the problem, I reinserted a table and its four pictures. But pictures from there still got copied into that list. What's causing the problem, and what can I do to solve it?
Thanks so much.
Answer Hi Bill,
This most commonly occurs when there is not a hard return after the picture (or before the caption). The picture has to have a style other than Caption associated with it. If it has the same style as the caption the table of figures assumes the picture should be inserted as well. Select the picture and paragraph mark following it and assign the same style as the pictures that are functioning properly. If you need additional information on how to change styles, reply and include version of Office so I may provide more specific instructions.
Hope this was helpful.
