Microsoft Word/page size in Word 2007

Question
My new pages started showing very narrow margins and now they are in odd sizes, which seem to keep changing.  Right now I am seeing a page about 8.5 by 9.  I have checked the page layout and it says 8.5 x 11.  When I preview to print the page size looks correct.  I am in print layout.  When I check margins it says 1" all around, but in fact is only 1" on the sides and almost nil at the top (which is where I see the beginning cursor - 1" from the left but right at the top of the document).  I don't know when or why this all started and have not been able to change it.

Answer
Hi Tammy,

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Have you tried printing to PDF? If so, does it PDF properly? It sounds like you may have either different first page assigned and/or section breaks. To check, go to Page Layout > Page Setup > look at Margins, Paper and Layout tabs and check to see if Whole Document is selected in the Apply to dropdown. If not, either remove section breaks and apply correct properties to all tabs or change and select Whole Document from dropdown. I have found that the latter does not always work and prefer to remove sections and start over if there are not too many.

If that does not work, I would suggest starting a new file and pasting all text into notepad before placing into new document in case any corruption exists. If you do not want to reformat, copy and paste from problem file but be sure not to carry over page breaks, section breaks or last paragraph of the document.

Send a follow-up question if none of the above works and I will work with you to troubleshoot.

Hope this was helpful.
