Question Hi. I have Word 2010. I am trying to write a letter. I set the spacing to single at level 0. First I typed the body of the letter. No problem. It all worked in single space. Then I went to the top to type the name and address of the person I was sending it to. That entire section insisted in double space. Selected the entire salutation, then went to settings and chose single again, and it did nothing. So as it stands now, my letter is in single space, but my salutation is double. One more thing. When I erase the entire salutation and type in the same lines BUT GO ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT MARGIN, The lines single space with no problem.
Now, my MAIN problem is that if I don't get an answer soon I will pull out the last remaining hair on my head because I've already pulled the rest out over this problem.
Answer Hi Ira,
Sorry to hear about your issue - I know how frustrating that can be. I do not know if you have content controls currently inserted (included with Microsoft template). If that is the case, simply right click in area that is giving you a problem and select "Remove Content Control". This is what provides the spacing, etc.
If you do not have a content control (or spacing is still not correct) select line of text (or paragraph) giving you a problem > go to home tab > select clear formatting icon (double AA with eraser). This will remove all formatting and restore normal text. From there you will be able to apply any required formatting.
Feel free to follow up if issue is still occurring.
Hope this was helpful.
