This helped me tremendously. The only thing I had to do differently was, the field codes box was already unchecked. I just had to change the box under it from always to never. This was driving my nuts!

If Field codes is already unchecked, look below that and find "FIELD SHADING".

In the pulldown it show "ALWAYS" being selected. Change that by selecting "NEVER".
