This appears to be a very irritating feature with Word that Microsoft have never got round to fixing as far as I can tell and I have not figured out what causes it to occur.

To correct the issue you shouldn't have to mess around with normal.dot or reconfiguring Word in any way etc.; simply alter the zoom size of your document by zooming out and back in using the Zoom dropdown toolbar and the cursor should be restored to your current point size.

I too had this problem and could find no help in Office>Word>Help. So, I went searching the net. I had a smaller cursor and the zoom theory worked for me. Thanks.

Dear All...

Just Zoom to 500% and then back to 100% and it fixes it. very simple.

Hi i had the same problem. every time i open a .dot template my cursor size shrinks to half while it stays full on other word documents.. Zoomed to 500% ENTER, back to 100% ENTER. took care of it. A lotta lotta thanks.
