Microwave Cooking - Microwave hood

Question
Hi,

I want to buy an over-the-stove microwave hood that's 24 inches wide, but i cannot seem to find any. I'd prefer one in stainless steel but at this point will settle for any other color. Any advice?

Thanks!

Maria

Answer
Hey Maria,All OTR (over the range) microwaves that I'm familiar with are 30 inches wide to conform with the standard width of most ranges. If you only have 24 inches to work with I suggest you build a shelf that width and find a countertop microwave to set on the shelf. There used to be shelf-hoods that had exhaust fans within for steam and smoke removal but I can't find them available anywhere. If you google "microwave shelf" you'll find a number of 24 inch shelves available. The only microwave ovens with stainless steel interiors are the combination microwave/convection ovens and if you need another "hot" oven this may be the way to go. Good luck!
