Microwave Cooking - MICROWAVE ABOVE A GAS RANGE

Expert: Donovan Fandre - 5/8/2008

Question
CAN A MICROWAVE BE MOUNTED OVER A GAS COOK TOP. I WENT TO 2 STORES AND GOT DIFFERENT ANSWERS.

Answer
Hey Ken, there should be no problem mounting a microwave over a gas range. You always have a pot or pan on the burner and seldom have the flame on high without a utensil on it; maybe occasionally to roast some peppers where you would be constantly watching the cooking. I sometimes flambe some sauces and the flames touch the microwave above but only for a few seconds and there never has been a problem. So, enjoy fast, convenient, efficient microwave cooking along with your stovetop. Check my website, jumpstartcooking.com for more tips and info.
