Question We have inherited an American microwave dehydrator, 3 racks with sheets, but no instructions, it's supposed to dehydrate fruit in 2 - 6 minuites.
I've tried using all the different power options, 10% to 100%, from 2 to 30 minuites, I can only achieve cooked or burnt apple. Any suggestions please?
Answer The distributer of this device make the instructions too fast and it takes time to dehydrate even with a microwave. Potato chips are the easiest. Slice very thin, lay on the racks, season as desired, and microwave for about 7 minutes or until the chips start to turn brown. Always use high power and use trial and error for other things. Apples burn, beets burn, bananas don't get crisp. Beef jerky is great (slice thin, marinate or season as desired and lay on the racks. Microwave for about 5 minutes or until dry but still supple. Place in a toaster or conventional oven for about 20 minutes at 200F, 93C. I have a detailed instruction book for this device and if you send me an address I'll forward one to you.
