About Chels
Expertise
Hello. I have lived through middle school and had a really hard time sometimes because I had a 'mid-school-crisis' as you could say. I had a rather hard time with self-esteem, friend problems, gossip about me, and a hard time fitting in. I got through the mess and chaos, and you can too. Let me help you. Middle school can seem like a pit that you just cannot seem to climb out of and I can help throw you a rope to climb up on.

Experience
I have attended bully-proofing classes and I have good ol' experience.

Question
Hello there, I have just moved to America from England. Talk about major culture shock! I am currently in 8th grade and I am having an extremly hard time being accepted and "fitting" in. I am constantly teased and bullied. I have tried to be friendly, and talk to people. I don't know what I am doing wrong. I have been at the school for a month now. Am I still fresh meat or something? All the girls are very vicious and nasty twoards me. I don't get it. I have done absolutley nothing to them. Please help me!! I want to make friends and not be terrorized everyday by these prats.

Answer
Hey Liv!

Let me start off by saying Welcome to America!

You sound like you are making an effort to make friends and to get involved in your new school, which is excellent! I would say the reason you are not fitting in is because you are in eighth grade. Middle School is BY FAR the worst years for girls. Eighth grade was the peak of when I was bullied the most, and the same goes for all my classmates. Being a new student probably does not help with the fitting in, but I really do believe it is the classic eighth grade curse. If you stay as sweet as you can (without being used) until next year, I firmly believe things will start looking up.

I hope this answer helped and I hope you do not have the impression Americans are all prats: that is simply not the case. If there is anything else I can do for you, do not hesitate to send another question my way. I volunteer to this site so I can help YOU. Have a wonderful day and I hope America, in time, will not disappoint you. :)
