Question
Hi Paul;

I am trying to find some government documents regards to the weapons, plans, trucks, and etc was sent to Russia from the US during the ww2. I am especially interested to know if the USA has purposely sent some older weapons, or maybe sent Russia the trucks, but not tools to fix the trucks if it breaks down. Please point me to the right direction.

Thank you;
nee

Answer
Greetings

In the early 1930s the Ford built a car and Truck plant for the Soviets.  So when US lend lease equipment came the Soviets already had spare parts available.  For lend Lease the US Army Air Force did give up mostly P-39s and P-63.  While these were new US aircraft they were not the best and so off to the USSR.  The Soviets loved the P-39 and its success the P-63.  The aircraft came with a 37 mm cannon that would tear the top armor off of German tanks.  The Right Weapon in the right place.  Most of as to government documents dealing with Lend lease there are many sources.  One would be the Library of Congress.  Also the National Achieves is a great place to start.  I have included links to both.  Also some of the Lend Lease documents are out in books.  I have found books on Amazon.com and other websites that may be what you need; those links are below.
I hope this helps and thank you.
