Military History/USAT Siboney

My father, Ensign Jimmie B. Dyer, was assigned to this USS Siboney. While docked in Japan after the atomic bombs were dropped, he and another pilot took off from the carrier. While on their flight, they veered off course and flew over Nagasaki. Daddy to this day will not speak of what he saw in detail; he says only that it was complete destruction. If you want more details, you will have to speak to him.

Dear Ms. Dyer,

Thank you for your contribution as per your father, a member of the air crew upon the USS Siboney  CVE-112.

Can answer: World War Two. Specifically, the troop transport ships that took US Military Personnel overseas & returned them to the US, 1941-47. Also, unit history of US Army QM, Signal, MP, Ordnance, Medical, Transportation & Engineer units that served during WW 2. The more obscure units are my specialty. If you have the APO that a Veteran sent letters from or received letters at, I can look up the history of that APO.
