My Dad William W.Patrick (Bill) was in the 172nd 43rd Div. He left out from Ft. Chaffee, Little Rock to Camp Shelby MS.and on to the Ft. in CA. He left out for the South Pacfic in the Solomon Islands on the troop transport The President Coolidge. The ship struck mines in the ocean and sank in the New Hebrides Islands. They didn't make it to Guadalcanal until march 23,, almost 5 wk. later after the rest of the 43rd.in the Northern Solomons,New Guina, and Luzon...Billy Patrick
