Military History/WW 2

My father died in 1970 and after 1973 I sent for his records and was told they had burned in a fire.  I have found a change of address postcard he sent to my mother.  Old address:  312 3rd Signal Service Co.  New Address:  A.S.N. 34921836  214 Sig. Depot Co.  A.P.O. 322  % P.M. San Francisco,Calif.Card was Postmarked Sept. 1944 in Red Bank, N. J.  Father also left two typed pages of Names and addresses of 312 3D Signal Service Company as of Nov. 1945.  Mother said Dad served in the Philippines.  How can I find information about where his units served?  Thanks   Randy

Dear Sir,
Thank you for your question.  The following are all the FACTS I have per your question.
The 214th Signal Depot Company participated in the following Campaigns during WW 2:

New Guinea:   January 24, 1943-December 31, 1944
Luzon:        December 15, 1944-July 4, 1945

The 3123rd Signal Service Company participated in the following Campaigns during WW 2:

New Guinea:   January 24, 1943-December 31, 1944

Activated at Milne Bay, New Guinea on August 3, 1943, APO 322 relocated to Finschhafen, New Guinea on November 26, 1943 & remained at that location through V-J Day.
I am sorry that I have provided you with so few FACTS, but without a photocopy of your father's Discharge Documents in hand, I have few FACTS to begin my research with.
       Good Luck with your quest.

Can answer: World War Two. Specifically, the troop transport ships that took US Military Personnel overseas & returned them to the US, 1941-47. Also, unit history of US Army QM, Signal, MP, Ordnance, Medical, Transportation & Engineer units that served during WW 2. The more obscure units are my specialty. If you have the APO that a Veteran sent letters from or received letters at, I can look up the history of that APO.
