Question
Hi, I was wondering about the location of people's enlistment would determine the division they serve in. For example someone signs up for the army in 1942 in Missouri. Would they be assigned to 35th infantry division (Missouri national guard). Thanks

Answer
Dear Jon,
Prior to the U.S. entry into World War II, an individual could enlist in one of the National Guard units within the state they resided but after 7 December 1941, you were drafted and then sent to the division depending on the U.S. Army's needs at the time. I hope this helps and may God bless-Lt. Colonel Robert A. Lynn, Florida Guard
