I have discussed your question with my old good friend Lt. Colonel (Ret.) S. Bojerud of the Royal Guards. We are of the opinion that the uniform etc. is that of the SS, not the regular German Army though it is definitely a German uniform. Furthermore it is of an NCO not a regular officer. The rabk we conclude to be that of an SS Rotelführer (= a Gefreiter in the regular German Army = a lance corporal). That is what we can conclude.
