Question
Hello.
My sister has just bought a holiday home in northern France. She would like to know when "her" area was liberated and by whom in 1944. Are there any books or websites that show the daily progress of Allied forces south after D-Day ? She would like to be there on the 70th anniversary, which looks like it'll be mid August from the little research I've done.
Thanks

Answer
Greetings
In August and September of 1944 the Canadian 1st Army was given the task of liberating the lands north of Normandy.  I would need to know exactly where in Northern farce but my guess would be her area was liberated in September 1944 by the Canadians.

I have included some websites that will help.
Thank You and I wish you success in your research.
