Question
According to our dads discharge papers, he was with the 355 Infantry Company B on Attu during WWII.  I cannot find anything about this unit at all and have even emailed the museum in ATTU.  They have nothing either about this unit.  Can you provide any information at all?  Thank you.

Answer
Dear Donna,
The 355th Infantry Regiment was never stationed on Attu but it was one of the units in the 89th Infantry Division which served in the ETO or European Theater of Operations during World War II. It was the 7th Infantry Division that was on Attu.
