Question
Hi Bob

Thanks for the last answer but you didn't quite understand the question I asked - I just want to know how many men are there in the Royal Navy who are qualified to command Trident nuclear subs?

I know we have 4 Trident submarines, so how many men do we have who are allowed to command them?

Thanks,

Paul.

Answer
Dear Paul,
The word "allowed" should be "qualified" to command one of the four Trident submarines. That number is estimated at 38 to 40 due to the demanding school that they have to attend which has an attrition rate of 25%. That formal school has only two classes a year.
