My father also left Luzon on that day and returned the same day. He was stationed at the 313 General Army as a U.S. Army Staff Sergeant, Medic, arriving in Luzon May 1, 1945 and departing Dec 1945. They arrived back in San Francisco in Jan 1946. They traveled back on the USS General Mitchell.
