Military Law - Airmen dating a minor?

Expert: Douglas Dribben - 6/22/2004

Question
I like this Airmen, but he thinks he can not date me because I'm 17. We have been out once or twice but we have never done anything sexual. Can he date me? Can we have sexual contact? Can you please help me.

Answer
There is no law against him seeing you.  Whether or not he can have sexual contact with you will depend on your state law and whether you are considered a minor under that law, and his age relative to yours.  You have not provided sufficient information to make a determination.  If you want a detailed answer, you should seek legal adivce from a qualified attorney in your state.

This answer is a generic response to your question, and does not constitute legal advice nor establishes a lawyer-client relationship.  The answer does not fit all situations, and the questioner should seek a specific answer from an attorney licensed to practice in the questioner's state and who is aware of all facts relevant to the question.
