Ricky Young joined the Minnesota Vikings after very successful years in San Diego. The combination of Ricky Young and Chuck Foreman was probably the strongest dual of running back receivers in NFL history. He was a very unselfish player and was an out standing blocking back.

He was a free agent from New Orleans who lead the league in receptions in 1978. Not bad for a running back, SKOL VIKINGS!!

I was recently at the Vikings training camp this past weekend and later met up with Rickey and his new fiance...anyway, his finance pulled out a few football cards of Rickey when he played for the Vikings and he eventually went on to play for the Chargers...He seems to be in pretty good shape and his soon to be wife immediately tried to sell a house to me...So hopefully they will do well, but with a bad housing market these days who knows!?  ha!  Very nice people though!

Rickey Young (born December 7, 1953 in Mobile, Alabama) is a former American football running back who played nine seasons in the NFL. Young played college football at Jackson State and was a teammate of Walter Payton. Rickey was drafted in 1975 (7th round, 164th overall pick) by the San Diego Chargers. After playing three years for the Chargers (1975-1977) he was traded to the Minnesota Vikings for Ed White (All-Pro guard). In his first season with the Vikings (1978) he led the NFL with 88 receptions.

I don't know where Rickey is now but I did go to High School with him and he made the games an incredile experience. He was nick named "Night Train"

Because when he got the ball he ran like  bat out of Hell. He made Vigor football worth going to. I followed him through most of his Pro Career. Awesome man!!
