Miscellaneous Education/Children and IT

QuestionHello Vani jee....I have finished my PG education with English literature and developing career in smooth possible ways. However, recently I have been watching the sudden rush in parents to enrol their wards into information technology even number of them do not know what exactly the sons and daughters are getting from those classes flooded with technical know-how. I am not denying the importance of IT in present era, but don't you think we are unnecessarily making the little ones go for this electronic media and forgetting the real essence of education? In other words, we are making the robots rather than an ideal citizen for our motherland?
Thanks
Raj
AnswerHi Raj,
What you think is partly right, as most parents now force their wards to enroll in ANY IT course thinking its a good career option and can help them make big money. Lot of fly by night operators have jumped into IT education with little or less intervention by the government to check their quality. Its exactly like two decades ago when Indian parents thought that being a doctor, lawyer or engineer were the only career options in our country. We need a body to govern this as well as school level career counselors who can guide both parents and kids.

Vani
