Question
How are some ways to tell if my mouse is pregnant?

Answer
Dear Tim,
thank you for your question.
It's sometimes impossible to tell. Many mice get very fat, with two clear bulges on either side of the body late in the pregnancy, but others stay as slim as before, especially with small litters. Building huge nests can be a sign of pregnancy but it may also be normal. A vet or an experienced  breeder usually can tell for sure.
If you just got your mice from a pet shop where males and females are not separated (which is usually the case), I would assume that she's pregnant. Mice give birth after 21-23 days.
I hope I was of some help to you
Jennifer

I can answer questions about exotic rodents like duprasis, Persian gerbils, bushy-tailed jirds, striped mice, natal rats ect.: how to keep them, what to feed them, how to make toys ect. I cannot answer questions on breeding or medical questions. If your animal appears to be sick, you need to see a rodent vet as soon as possible, please don`t waste time asking me.

Experience

I keep or have kept fancy mice, spiny mice, Mongolian gerbils, Naked-soled gerbils and bushy-tailed jirds and I foster exotic rodents for a rodent rescue organisation.
