A lot of things, though might be the computer it could be a sensor too. Whatever I am not sure of, I will then hunt up the question useing the net. Don't know much about body work or painting a car.

Experience
The Mitsubishi Eclipse I work on has over 167,000 miles on it. If it could go wrong it has. I have learned a lot from working on the car, reading books and asking people who work on other cars.

Organizations
Church, I am a Christian.

Education/Credentials
Have some college course on engines, working on them and keeping them repaired. Read a lot of books and try to stay ahead of things.

Subject: belt tensioner on my 88 ram50

Question
the belt from the compressor to the camshaft pulley is touching the belt tensioner. I have tried to lift it up with a crow bar with no success. I just did a head replacement and am putting it back together. It turns over but won't start. Could the problem be that that belt is touching the belt tensioner? And what can i do about it? thanks. Mike

Answer
Michael: Sounds like to me that the timing is off. Are you sure you put the camshaft and belt tensioner in the right spots? Did you move the timing belt, if so did you put it back to the right marks? They are often than not hard to see when the cars get older. Still the belt from the compressor to the camshaft pulley is not to touch the belt tensioner and so something is not right. Surely you have a repair manual go back over what you did and check everything. If you don't have a repair manual I would be buying one, they cost around $20.00 at parts stores and would explain things better with even pictures. Try for a Haynes they have less engines in them. God bless: Linda
