AboutLinda Expertise I have done a lot of work on older Mitsubishi's. Whatever has gone on with someone's car has I am sure happen to the one I work on. A lot of things, though might be the computer it could be a sensor too. Whatever I am not sure of, I will then hunt up the question useing the net. Don't know much about body work or painting a car.
Experience The Mitsubishi Eclipse I work on has over 167,000 miles on it. If it could go wrong it has. I have learned a lot from working on the car, reading books and asking people who work on other cars.
Organizations Church, I am a Christian.
Education/Credentials Have some college course on engines, working on them and keeping them repaired. Read a lot of books and try to stay ahead of things.
Question QUESTION: my fto is stuck in second gear. will not change up and down
but will go into reverse. i have changed the t.c.u. e.c.u. relay, fuse, and input and output speed sensors. it is a tiptronic gear box. have you any idea what it could be.
ANSWER: Leon: I got to say you blew it, because you changed the computer out and that computer knew the problem with the transmission. But now I have no idea what would be wrong with it. You could have had the old computer coded and it would have kicked out whatever problem it was picking up. I would say you are going to have to replace the transmission now. God bless:Linda

QUESTION: iv still got the old ecu and tcu. they were put back in. the one mistake i did make was to cross wire the radio. i connected the illumination to the earth. that caused the lights to play up and melt the wiring on the steering colum to th lights. i repaired that and the car did run ok for around 2 hours but then went back to being stuck in second. many thanks
Answer Leon: The computer is still picking up a problem in the transmission so putting into what is called "safety mode" , you will have to take the car to a transmission shop and have them find out what problem the computer is picking up. You could try changing the fluid, filter and adding some transmission conditioner to see if that might help your problem. What color is your transmission fluid? Pink-great, pink & brown- not so good, all brown- bad but all brown and smells burn- the transmission is in bad shape. But still changing the fluid, filter and checking the transmission pan to see how much metal pieces you find in it will explain a lot to you about your transmissiom. Other wise take the car to a transmission shop and see what they tell you. God bless: Linda
