Identifying and repairing problems in mechanical and electrical areas. Plus, I have learned many ways to enhance performance to the incredible engine Mitsubishi put in their early model Turbos.

Mitsubishi Repair - SPEEDOMETER INOP

Expert: Anthony Falcone - 10/2/2009

Question
I have a '93 Mitsubishi eclipse - 1.8 - the speedometer stopped working completely, all other gauges work fine including RPM. Any idea what could be causing this?

Answer
Mario,
This is typically caused by a bad vehicle speed sensor.  It's attached to your transmission and has a small gear on it that spins at the rate your transmission does.  If that gear has broken or other aspect of the sensor failed, your speedometer will not work correct.  Have that inspected and replaced it necessary.
Good luck!
