About Anthony Falcone
Expertise
I have been working with (and driving) a first generation Mitsubishi Eclipse for several years. Anything that could go wrong with an Eclipse has probably happened on mine. Fortunately, I have gained a lot of knowledge from experience in repairing these problems myself.

Experience
Identifying and repairing problems in mechanical and electrical areas. Plus, I have learned many ways to enhance performance to the incredible engine Mitsubishi put in their early model Turbos.

Mitsubishi Repair - cam shaft position sensor

Expert: Anthony Falcone - 10/12/2009

Question
Hi have a 1990 Eagle Talon TSI 2.0L Turbo It is in a repair shop they are telling me that I need the cam shaft position sensor and that it has to be from a 1990  and it has to be this part number tti4002z I want to know if there is aftermarket one that I can get or if you know where I can get one with this part number thank you

Answer
Tim,
I believe Duralast makes an aftermarket part for this, though it's still manufactured by Mitsubishi.  The Mitsubishi part number is MD121786, which should be the equivalent part.  Though not matter where you get the part, if you order it new, it'll cost anywhere from $450-$700 depending on where you order it from.  Though you may have luck check auto salvage yards for this part.  You can look for any turbo-engine from a 1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse, Eagle Talon, or Plymouth Laser for this equivalent part.
Good luck!
