Mitsubishi Repair/lock light doesn't go out in 4WD or 2WD

Question
Hi there,
We have just bought a 2001 Mitsubishi Pajero iO ZR 3-door 4WD (this was the special 2-litre sports version) and we have noticed that whenver we change from 2WD to 4WD the lock light doesn't go out but flashes when we are in either. We have had a chance to use it in the other two conformations available 4Hlc or 4 Llc. Is the fact it remains it and constantly flashes a problem? Many thanks.

Answer
Mike,
If that light flashes continuously, that typically means that the computer has detected a problem with locking the transfer case into 4WD.  You may need to have your local Mitsubishi mechanic run the diagnostic tool on the transfer case electrical system to see where the problem is.
Good luck!

Expertise

I have been working with (and driving) a first generation Mitsubishi Eclipse for several years. Anything that could go wrong with an Eclipse has probably happened on mine. Fortunately, I have gained a lot of knowledge from experience in repairing these problems myself.

Experience

Identifying and repairing problems in mechanical and electrical areas. Plus, I have learned many ways to enhance performance to the incredible engine Mitsubishi put in their early model Turbos.
