Question
1. how do i define salting in and salting out in protein isolation?

2. why is glucokinase expressed in different tissue?

Thanks

Answer
1. Proteins are extracted at varying salt concentrations. A nice wikipedia page on this. A positive K describes salting out and a negative K value describes salting in.

2. So that the different tissues can metabolize glucose. There is also an in depth wikipedia article on glucokinase that will give a much more in depth explanation.
