Question hi i have a hp pavilion zd8044ea and i was surfing the internet when the screen went white. i restarted the computer and still got the same problem.
I can enter safe mode (with no white screen) and i attempted system restore, restore windows to last known previous settings and windows XP repair (without console) and the problem still persists.
without entering safe mode, the screen shows windows loading up (with the bars running across) but when its meant to go to the blue screen where it says 'windows is starting up...' the screen goes black for a few seconds and then ends up white.
i connected another monitor and still got the same problem.
by the way i havent done any upgrades of any sort to the laptop if that helps
thanks in advance!
Answer Sounds like a driver issue.
Get some canned air from an office supply store.
Enter safe mode with networking. Gp to device manager and find the make and model of the display adapter. Go to HP's website and enter your model number. Download the newest video driver they have posted.
Go back to device manager and right click the diaplay adapter. Choose remove or uninstall. Uninstall and software for the video card from add/remove programs. Then shutdown
Use the canned air to blow out all the vent holes and fan holes of the laptop.
Then reboot to windows. Cancel the device wizard. Then install the new driver you downloaded.
