Question Hi, I am having a problem with my monitor not coming on. When I turn on my computer the monitor light will go to green then turn yellow again with out getting a picture. It worked fine when I got the computer.I tried the monitor on my old computer and it will work fine. I got a new graphics card but still no picture.
Answer First if you can see the boot screen (before the windows boot screen) you need to enter the bios and check the setting for the on board video (if you have that)
If you can't see the boot screen - use the old connection and enter the bios. If you have onboard video make sure it is set to disabled or auto in the bios. Make sure the add on video card slot is ensabled.
Then boot to windows and enter device manager. DIsable the onboard video, shut down and install the new card.
If you don't have on board video, put the old video card back in and go into windows. Go to device manager. Right click the video card and choose remove or uninstall. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall any software for the video card or its manufacturer.
Shut down and install the new video card. Boot to windows and install the drivers for the new card.
