Answer Hi Jim,
That's a good question about Jones. I think I remember hearing he was involved with kids in his hometown and he was doing that by having them play baseball to escape life on the streets. Maybe this info is erroneous, but I believe that is what he's doing. I wouldn't bet my house on it though :-)
As for a replacement to Dave Van Horne, my humble guess (and that is if the Expos get a local english radio broadcast deal) is that former Mets and White Sox manager Jeff Torborg, now of CBS radio, will take over for Van Horne. Second on my list would be former backup Elliott Price. Joe Cannon was also let go, so if the Expos have games on TV, I don't know who'll be the commentator there and backing up the regular voice on radio. As for Russ Taylor, all I know is that he has passed away, but not much else. Van Horne left because 1), he was only doing Internet broadcasts, 2) was not offered a contract by Jeffrey Loria, 3) we don't know if the Expos will have an english radio boradcast deal, and 4) the Marlins are about an hour away from his home in West Palm Beach. It's unfortunate, but Jeffrey Loria wants his own people and Van Horne wasn't one of them
