The back-up drummer with the Moody Blues is Gordon Marshall and the flautist is Norda Mullen.

Hi Debbie,

The two musicians you're referring to are Gordon Marshall on drums, and Norda Mullen.

Gordon has played with the band almost non-stop since the early 1990's (that's also him playing drums along side Graeme on the Red Rocks DVD.) He's also been a member of Justin's road band when he took "The View From the Hill" songs on tour when that album was released in the late 1990's.

Norda is relatively new to the Moodies' touring band, and joined a few years ago when Ray Thomas retired.

Other road band members are Paul Bliss on keyboards and Bernie Barlow also on keys and back up vocals along with Norda.

As for Gordon's parentage?  Though there are a lot of good-natured jokes out there in Moody fandom about Graeme and Gordon, they are not related.  :-)

Hope that helps you out!

The extra drummer is Gordon Marshall and he has added his wonderful talent to the Moodies since 1991 or so. The talented  lady playing the flute is Norda Mullen. She stepped in shortly after Ray Thomas retired in 2002.

Norda is the flute player. There's a female keyboardist. Greame doesn't have the stamina so that's why they have a second drummer.

The drummer is Gordon Marshall (born in  1960). He has been touring with the band since 1991. The young lady on flute is Norda Mullen. She is around 25 or 26. Very talented! I have lots of info if you need it.

Regards,

Norm in Tennessee (Originally from Miami)

PS I named my son Justin after Justin Hayward

Actually, Norda graduated high school in 1978, so she's older than 26.

The drummer is Gordon Marshall, who has been touring with the Moodies since 1991.   Now he is about 48 years old.   The flutist is Norda Mullen, who stepped into Ray Thomas' role in the spring of 2003.   Thomas retired at the end of the 2002 tour.   Norda is about 46.

The lady you refer to on flute who took Ray Thomas's place is Norda Mullen, and the drummer's name is Gordon Marshall

The name of the drummer is Gordon Marshall, and he has done some work with Justin Hayward. Look for Justin's DVD "Live in San Juan Capistrano." The flutist is named Norda Mullen, and she has been with the band since Ray's (sad) leaving. She did all of the flute playing in the most recent studio CD "December"

Norda 25 or 26?  She's more than 20 years older than that.  She graduated from High School in 1978 and from university in 1982.  She has also mentioned that when NIWS was released (in the US) she was 12 which would mean she was born in 1960.  It's her skinniness that makes her look young from a distance.  From close-up she looks in her mid-40s.

Norda Mullen is not in her 20's. She was born in 1960 and graduated from high school in 1978. Doing the math, Birds is 55 years old (but certainly doesn't look it).
