Motorcycle Repair - Bolt On Chopper Kits

Expert: Mike Wells - 12/1/2008

Question
I have seen web sites such as "Seeger Cycle, Chopper Kit" about a bolt on chopper set up. They give you a new triple tree and add some to your front pipes.  Are these kits safe? Who has the better quality for non Hard core biker type?

Answer
i have never used these kits, but I did look at them on the web. What you are doing is adding rake to the bike with new trees and adding longer fork tubes. It is no diffferent than adding a degreed triple tree.
Since I have nevered used one of these kits it would be hard for me to tell you if it were safe. If you are asking if its safe to move the front end of your bike out, yes it is. the one thing you need to remember is, the farther the front end is out the better it tracks in a straight line, but harder to turn
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
